Change Inertia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Change, however small, generates an emotional response in most individuals, teams and organisations. These emotions can affect the inertia which all changes must overcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speed vs. Progress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a natural reaction from those tasked with delivering change to see rapid progress.\u00a0The challenge is how to measure progress instead of just measuring change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speed of change, simply measuring the rate of change, is a false metric to measure success. The velocity of the change, confirming the changes are directed towards the goal, is the real measure of success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have the experience to step out of the detail and confirm the\ndirection of travel. We can recognise when the pressure to show progress is getting\nin the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By helping people understand the goals underlying the direction of\ntravel they can begin to assist in their fulfilment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
